The second element of the Thrive Together program is to help orphans and vulernable children get an education.

scholarships, and getting kids in school

Dera, Ethiopia has schools: three elementary schools with combined capacity of over 2300 students, a middle school, and a high school. However, there are many children who would like to attend these schools but cannot afford the small tuition and uniform fee.

Hope Arising is determined to offer the opportunity of school to every child in Dera, by setting up a scholarship fund. An additional component of educating Dera's children is a program called Stay Alive. Children are taught by participating neighbors about lifesaving behaviors to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS.

Again, your generosity makes these programs possible. Several donation options offer tremendous opportunity:

Get kids in school

$5 sponsors a child for a year

Stay Alive puppets and curriculum

$75 sponsors one classroom

One time gift

Donations in all amounts are needed, large or small

learning more

An education equals opportunity. Besides basic learning, children are also taught behaviors in health, hygiene, and HIV/AIDS prevention. Children and caregivers learn about hygiene practices to fight disease and treat illness. Community support is provided for those dealing with death and/or illness.
