Mrs. Addis Birhanu struggled to provide for her daughter. She tried to open a shop, but often only had one or two items to sell. After selling an item, she would buy something else to sell, but because she frequently had nothing to sell, she could not generate any income. She averaged only $0.86 a day and spent all of her earnings on food. She was barely existing.
After receiving a loan in 2019, her income has already doubled and continues to increase as she improves her business. Her store now carries a larger, reliable inventory and she has a small clientele that purchase goods from her on a regular basis.
Because she regularly reports on her business, she has learned to be disciplined and separate her business funds from personal use. Addis explains, “Women sometimes use their funds for personal needs or allow their husbands to take the money. Hope Arising’s training taught me to run a business separate from my household. In the future, I will use my earnings to grow my business.”
“Thank you for teaching me about business. Thank you to all who gave to Hope Arising and made this possible.”
